2022.01.23 11:57 tiffbingaling Body fat and muscle %s
I hope this is the right sub to get this answered but I am very confused how body fat works.
My smart scale currently says I'm 196lb, 45% body fat, and 154lb of muscle mass.
Now, 154lbs of 196 total pounds is around 78%.
Am I both 78% muscle AND 45% fat?
I know... Don't trust the scales. They're bullshit. All that. I'm just confused how to read the data. And set goals. For context I'm 37F 5'3" lifting heavy for 1 year 3x/wk. I'm noticably strong. But noticably chubby first and foremost.
Side note: If I'm 154lb of muscle why would I ever set a goal weight of 130lb?! Which would put me at a medically healthy BMI. Again, BMI bullshit.

GameStop apes are all talk: Webull CEO
📷Brian Sozzi·Anchor, Editor-at-LargeFri, January 21, 2022, 12:40 PM
GameStop shares have been circling the bowl since the meme stock frenzy caused shares of the struggling retailer to explode to $500 intraday in late January 2021.
For Webull CEO Anthony Denier, the price action in GameStop (GME) underscores a few things.
"If you see the prices now [for GameStop] — that tells me that diamond hands or apes, I think it's a lot of talk," Denier said on Yahoo Finance Live. "We are seeing our traders and our investors take money off the table in GameStop."
Coming up on the one-year anniversary of the meme stock boom, GameStop shares are doing anything but going higher.
Shares plunged below $100 on Friday for the first time since just before the beginning of the retail stock buying frenzy last January. The stock has crashed some 71% since their Jan. 27, 2021 closing high.
The king of meme stocks — led by new CEO Matt Furlong (a former Amazon exec) — hasn't expanded too much on its desire to morph into a tech company. Details are scant on GameStop's reported push into launching an NFT marketplace.
Furlong has taken no analyst questions on his first series of earnings calls — calls that have been bizarrely brief and absent details of any kind.
Hence, GameStop's stock has tanked even as it still has many supporters in the retail trader community.
"There is a very vocal minority I think of investors that are involved in this GameStop phenomenon," Denier added.
To be sure, GameStop's fundamentals continue to not be great and nowhere suggesting a turnaround is looming.
For the 39-weeks ended Oct. 30, GameStop has posted an operating loss of $201.7 million.
Microsoft's $68.7 billion play for gaming publisher Activision Blizzard isn't helping sentiment on GameStop, either.
"Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard changes the scope of key inputs into our prospective GameStop model. Both companies are key vendors to GameStop. A combo fortifies power over the retailer; could reshape volumes for Activision titles if made exclusive to Xbox; and portends a more rapid transition to cloud-driven IP gaming," said Jefferies analyst Stephanie Wissink in a research note this week.

2022.01.23 11:57 Substantial_Fan8801 I figured it out! I posted on here once asking about the symbols on gm parts about a year ago, I didn't get any actual answers. But now I work at a Chevy dealership and the parts guy said these random symbols are related to the distribution centers! Mystery solved.

2022.01.23 11:57 dumplingcompromise What the next crypto bull run will look like
Obviously this is subjective opinion. but here's my narrative of how things could play out in the year ahead.
In the last bull run prior crypto assets were rising across the board based on narrative and an easy-money environment.
As everyone knows, all that came to a halt with the US Fed's decision to pursue a more hawkish interest rate policy.
When interest rates are high(er), the fundamentals of a venture need to be higher in order to justify investing in a risky venture rather than in yield-bearing bonds.
Currently, crypto is largely seen as the most speculative asset class of all. And rightly so. Many tokens have billions of dollars of valuation with no mainstream utility or fundamentals backing the price.
This selloff needed to happen.
Assuming that interest rates ARE going higher and Central Banks don't go back to easing in 2022, Value is going to be more instrumental to driving price gains than growth potential.
I think what the market is getting wrong about crypto in this sell-of is that it's painting crypto as a purely speculative play based on future potential. And while that's true for many assets, there ARE assets that have solid fundamentals RIGHT NOW.
For example, you can value ETH based on its current network activity using a conventional financial model to drive a non-speculative price for ETH. Example.
Another example is MKR, which discloses an annual financial report and can be valued with a simple Price-to-Earnings metric.
So I think crypto can still have a healthy bull run in a value-driven, increasing rates environment, but the crypto currencies that will trend upwards will trend upwards for different reasons than this last bull run.
I could be wrong, but I think in the next upswing being a meme coin isn't going to be enough. I think participants in the cryptosphere will demand either a clear meaningful application and/or solid fundamentals.

2022.01.23 11:57 Legendary_sanin The end of one piece
Luffy and Roger have said their dream a lot of times but they were cut everytime my prediction is his dream is to become friends with everyone (or something childish like that because he first said it in the ASL flashback before meeting shanks) and a party is the easiest way of doing that . I was thinking about brook and what will his role be why has oda not given him a purpose in the final battle that's when I realised the final party that Luffy will throw the final aim of Luffy . Someone has to prepare for it it's going to be brook he will be using his soul powers and music (and whales probably) to complete luffys dream . The title of chapter 999 and 1000 when added is " The sake I brewed while waiting for you strawhat Luffy " This sake is one piece ( also Roger and his crew were laughing and dancing because of Binks sake was playing at the final island ).

2022.01.23 11:57 femmeshepp I don't know how much longer I can tolerate my future MIL
Hey. This is gonna be a long one, so strap in for a while and be prepared.
I have been with my fiancé for four years this July. He has a mother, who has been disabled for quite sometime, and lives in this (relatively) nice ass house in the suburbs. She lives by herself, with her 13 year old cat.
My fiancé and his mom had a rough relationship while the two lived together. This was exacerbated because my fiancé was abused by his dad, and his mom didn't do anything to stop or help until several months later. As you can assume, this put a stress on their relationship, in addition to the multiple suicide attempts by my fiancé.
So, just yesterday, our 1 year old cat had to be unexpectedly put down. The vet thinks she had a birth defect that caused either a tumor or fluid to accumulate under her lungs, which was crushing her windpipe and making it hard for her to breathe. She also had an incredibly large heart. We were shocked because besides some upper respiratory infections, she was always an active and playful healthy kitten otherwise.
We put her down, and a couple hours later, my fiancé called his mom to tell her the news. The first thing out of this lady's mouth was "I'm sorry. You need to make sure that you're cleaning out the litter boxes more often." In essence, she implied that we killed our cat because we don't clean our litter boxes enough to her standard.
Not much else was said before the call ended. I was pissed, but also just sad because I was grieving, and feeling guilty. What if I did kill my cat? What if I should have risked putting her under anesthesia to see if she had a chance? I was already regretting putting her down and wondering if we made the right choice.
However, the more I thought about it, the more I just started to get pissed off that she would even say that in the first place. Why she would think it's appropriate to insinuate that we did something wrong when the vet said it was a birth defect is beyond me.
My fiancé later texted her that he doesn't appreciate what she said and that he is deeply hurt. She replied that she wasn't implying that we killed our cat, but that "we should know because toxoplasmosis can harm/kill us." She then sent him a screenshot from a teen vogue article talking about unclean litter boxes causing respiratory issues, and said "I'm sorry I don't feel good." But then sent us the screenshot again and warned us.
She has said ignorant stuff like this before; she has a habit of minimizing any sort of trauma that my fiancé mentions to her. She is also, in my opinion, pretty selfish. There was once a fire in our apartment building and we didn't know if it would spread, so we took our (2) cats into the car and called, asking if we could stay at her big ass empty house.
She made up an excuse, stating that her cat would be upset, even though we told her that we'd keep ourselves and the cats in my fiancé's bedroom at the house. She still refused and even suggested we ask my fiancé's father, his ABUSER, if we could stay there. Eventually we were able to return home since the fire was contained and had been put out.
It's things and situations such as this that really just make me not like her on want to associate with her. But then, for instance, she gave us $3k for a new car after we got into a wreck a couple of months ago. She also drove us around to work while we didn't have a car. Clearly she does care, but her habit of minimizing and saying inappropriate things is grating.
I don't want my fiancé to cut off contact with her because that's all he has. His father is an asshole that makes fun of my fiancé's trauma responses/him being scared; my fiancé's sister does not give him the time of day and prioritizes her friends above him. Without his mom, he doesn't have anyone else besides me and a couple of friends. I don't have family either, since I'm mostly estranged from them.
I'm not entirely sure what I'm asking. Maybe if anyone has any advice on me how to handle when she says shit like this? When we try to point something out to her, she'll get depressed and feel bad, thinking that we hate her (she has self esteem and other issues since she was abused as well).
I'm just not sure if I can handle someone whose first reaction to hearing my cat died is to reprimand us for not cleaning our litter boxes enough.
